This year Save the Harbor/ Save the Bay, in partnership with the Boston Foundation, is inviting non-profit organizations and community groups to submit applications for initiatives that promote programming on the 14 metropolitan Boston public beaches: King’s, Nahant, Revere, Short, Winthrop, Constitution, Pleasure Bay and Castle Island, L and M street, Carson, Malibu/ Savin Hill, Tenean, Wollaston, and Nantasket beaches.

Proposed programs could include but are not limited to swimming lessons, outdoor concerts, kite festivals, sand castle competitions, or farmers’ markets. Request can range from $500 to $5,000. Creative ideas are encouraged and welcome.
Eligibility
Non-profit organizations, community groups, and less formal “friends” or neighborhood groups from Lynn, Nahant, Revere, Winthrop, East Boston, South Boston, Dorchester, Quincy, and Hull are eligible for funding. Matching support (cash or in kind) from state or local leaders, community groups, or corporate partners is strongly encouraged, although not required. The project must support beach programs during the 2008 season (spring, summer, or fall).
Instructions
The application is simple. Just fill out the 2 page proposal form available below, and provide a simple proposed budget for your project. We’ll be accepting applications until February 1, 2008 and grant awards will be announced by the end of February.
