Boston Harbor takes up an area some 50 square miles wide and has 180 miles of shoreline and some 30 islands making up 1200 acres of land. Three of the Harbor's islands were turned into logan airport's runway: Governor's, Bird, and Apple Islands!

The Harbor Islands have been used for all sorts of strange things over the years; they've housed legendary prisons and fed grazing livestock. Visit the Boston Harbor Islands Learning Center to learn tons of interesting facts about the islands!
