Beaches We Can Be Proud Of
|
The Metropolitan Beaches Commission was established by the Massachusetts Legislature in 2006 to:
- Take an in depth look at each of the region’s beaches - Identify the current conditions on each beach - Identify the best management practices across the region - Make recommendations that would bring our beaches to their fullest potential as significant recreational and economic resources, ultimately improving the quality of life for residents and visitors, and strengthening our capital city and the region.

Economic Analysis of Boston Harbor and the Region's Economy
|
Today, Boston Harbor – the natural foundation on which Boston’s economy was first built – is once again at the center of the City’s future. Residents from across the city and region are reconnecting to the Harbor and the waterfront in new and exciting ways.
The re-emergence of Boston Harbor and the waterfront as the City’s leading center of growth has happened in large part because of the massive public investments during the past seventeen years in the Harbor itself and in the waterfront that surrounds it.

Over the next 20 years, Boston Harbor will play an even greater role in the life of the city and region. To track its progress, Save the Harbor/Save the Bay, in partnership with the City of Boston and the Boston Foundation, undertook an extensive process to formulate a new framework of goals and measures.
Already, this effort has led to significant policy changes and exciting new initiatives that will expand access to Boston’s revitalized Harbor and Waterfront - stunning resources waiting to be fully imagined and fully utilized.
