For the seventh consecutive year, Triangle will host a day of accessible fun for its program participants and community members with disabilities at Constitution Beach in East Boston. Beach:Ability has grown over the years - initial focused as a community building activity for the people Triangle serves in its programs through eastern Massachusetts. Since its beginnings, the event now engages multiple community partners and has grown to engage nearly 200 individuals each year.
Beach:Ability started as a way to highlight the features available through the Universal Access Program at DCR-operated beaches, including sand and floating wheel chairs, accessible washroom facilities, and mobi-mats that help individuals with mobility challenges have clear paths to the water. DCR and the Universal Access program have been fantastic partners by gathering and supplying added chairs to the event to be able to meet the demands of guests.
In addition to the great features inherent at a day at the beach, Triangle also provides lawn games and activities, music, accessible kayaks (courtesy of Piers Park Sailing), and complimentary lunch and re-useable water bottles for each registered attendee.
Organized by our Better Beaches partners at Triangle, Inc..
