Wellness For Us | BIPOC Only Space

  • Carson Beach Boston, MA United States (map)

Wellness for Us (an offshoot of my long running Yoga For Us series) at Carson Beach will be a seasonal gathering that invites Black, Indigenous, and People of Color to spend intentional time at the water in community, with space to play, rest, daydream, and simply be. Each event in the series will carry its own theme, offering different ways to engage in wellness-centered practices that feel accessible, gentle, and nourishing.

Gatherings will be approximately two to two and a half hours. We will begin by arriving together with a warm welcome and simple grounding, followed by very gentle movement to help participants land in their bodies. From there, attendees will be invited into a slower rhythm. There will be opportunities to read, journal with guided prompts, connect through low-pressure games, and receive a sound meditation near the water. The intention is to support nervous system settling while also making space for joy, curiosity, and inner child reconnection.

If funding allows, I would love to offer refreshments such as light snacks, water, juice, and fruit to support ease and care throughout the experience. I am also interested in incorporating a music element for at least one gathering, potentially a DJ for the closing event.

The final event in September will be Frolic and Rest, a closing celebration that feels like a soft beach party. There will be music and playful, inner child-centered activities alongside opportunities to rest, restore, and receive sound. Hosting this series at Carson Beach also holds deep cultural meaning. Being at the water can be cleansing and restorative, and it is an opportunity to affirm and rebuild our diasporic relationship with water, especially in a space that has a history of not welcoming people of color. This series is an intentional act of presence, community care, and reclamation.

Organized by our Better Beaches partner Marlene Boyette.
